JALNA: At the very least 103 bogus docs, 166 unregistered medical practitioners had been discovered practising illegally in Maharashtra’s Jalna district, an official stated on Saturday.
As per a report from the well being division, the district had 433 docs, of which 267 had been registered, 166 weren’t registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), whereas 103 didn’t have legitimate levels and had been declared bogus.
These bogus docs operated in rural areas and slums, endangering lives, the report said.
Jalna tehsil has the best variety of quacks at 25, adopted by Bhokardan and Jafrabad with 17, Badnapur with 10, Ghansawangi with 9, Partur with eight and Mantha with 4, it stated.
Notably, state well being minister Rajesh Tope hails from Jalna and can also be the guardian minister of the district.
Ambad, which is Tope’s hometown, has 65 unregistered docs, adopted by Mantha with 46, Partur with 30, Bhokardan with 13, Jalna with seven and Ghansawangi tehsil with 4, the report stated.
District well being officer Dr Vivek Khatgaonkar stated the well being division has initiated motion in opposition to bogus docs and unregistered medical practitioners.
Tope had earlier directed the well being division to launch a drive in opposition to bogus docs and unlawful abortion centres within the district.
In the meantime, taluka well being officer Dr Sheetal Soni made shock visits and inspected greater than 20 clinics and hospitals in Jalna tehsil.
